Our Project

Process Optimisation of Rosewood Sewage Treatment Plant (RWSTP)

Client: Queensland Urban Utilities

The existing Rosewood STP with a capacity of 3,000 EP is located on the southern bank of the Western Creek approximately 1.5km upstream from the confluence with the Bremer River at Rosewood, QLD.

The old plant utilised the following equipment:

  • Two intermittently decanted extended aeration tanks. WAS from these tanks was stored temporarily onsite, prior to being transported to Bundamba STP for dewatering
  • Three open surface lagoons, one sub surface flow constructed wetland and an emergency lagoon for storage of raw sewage
  • Chlorine contact tank; after disinfection effluent can be pumped to Rosewood Golf Course, stored on site and used as a supply of Class B water, or discharged via an outfall to Western Creek.

The STP was not meeting the new stringent discharge license conditions, and required a major upgrade or replacement.

WSE was commissioned in 2011 in conjunction with Sinclair Knight Merz (SKM) to carry out detail design of electrical, instrumentation and SCADA control systems for the process optimisation of the plant.

WSE carried out full detail design, tendering, tender analysis/award and support during construction works. WSE’s commissioning engineers helped QUU and site contractor to complete the project.
